ALL MAXX FAB DOWNPIPES USE HEAVY DUTY FLEX JOINTS WITH INTERLOCKING LINER

Only MAXX Fab down pipes are equipped with heavy duty flex joints with interlocking liner.  No other manufacturer utilizes these heavy duty joints.

One of the weak points in just about any aftermarket down pipe and or turbo back exhaust for the SRT is the flex joint located at the top of the dp. The stock flex joint was designed to handle years of use without failure. One of the features of the stock flex joint that aids in durability is the liner on the inside of the flex joint. The picture below shows the interlocking liner on the inside of the stock flex joint:

Most typical aftermarket dps/exhaust systems use an inexpensive imported flex joint. These flex joints have a thin flexible accordion like bellows surrounded by a wire mesh. While these are adequate for most applications, there are better options available. Over time, the thin bellows (only .032 " thick) can sag and fail due to high exhaust temps, engine movement, and the lack of exhaust system support under the factory SRT-4 chassis. There's been more than one report over the past few years of a failed flex on aftermarket exhaust systems for the SRT-4.

In the continued attempt to build the most dependable down pipes and exhaust systems available for the SRT-4/PT Cruiser,  MAXX Fab uses a flex with an interlocking liner inside the bellows that not only makes this flex one of the smoothest flowing flex joints available, but adds a significant amount of strength to the flex joint as the liner reinforces the bellows and the surrounding wire mesh. This makes MAXX Fab down pipes and exhaust systems the most durable and best flowing down pipes and exhaust systems for the SRT-4.

The picture on the left shows a typical aftermarket flex joint that is typically used on cheap imported down pipes from China.....notice there is no inner liner.  The picture on the right shown the flex joint used on MAXX Fab down pipes.  Notice the inner liner on the inside of the bellows which smoothes out the flow, and adds significantly to the service life of the flex joint.

MAXX FAB NEON SRT-4 DOWN PIPE

MAXX Fab down pipes are 3 inch diameter, avail with or without a Magnaflow hi-flow cat, are built to order and are made from thick .063"stainless steel, not thin .050" metal like the cheap imported downpipes.  All dps also come with two O2 sensor bungs (allows for the installation of a wideband O2 sensor in addition to the OEM O2 sensor), one O2 sensor bung plug, 3 bolt gasket and hardware.

MAXX Fab down pipes have interchageable adapters which allows the customer to connect the down pipe to different cat backs.   The customer can order the dp to fit the stock cat back now, then buy a MAXX Fab, Mopar or Injen cat back at a later date as funds allow to make a full exhaust system. 

Down pipes can be ordered with the following adapters:

  • STOCK ADAPTER - Fits both the stock and unmodified Mopar cat backs just like the stock dp, no modifications needed.
  • MODIFIED MOPAR ADAPTER- Connects to the 2.5 inch tubing on the Mopar cat back, removing the stock down pipe 2.25 inch bottleneck. The removal of the 2.25 inch reducer on the front of the Borla/Mopar exhaust increases the flow area by 19%!!!!  If you can operate a hack saw, you can install this down pipe to the Borla/Mopar.  Easy instructions are included where to cut the Borla for installation.  Also included is a stainless clamp to secure the MAXX Fab down pipe to the Borla/Mopar exhaust.
  • INJEN ADAPTER- Connects to the 3 inch part of the Injen cat back to make a full 3 inch system.  Bolt on application, no mods needed.
  • 3 INCH ADAPTER- For those that have a custom cat back.  Adapter is 11 inch long 3 inch diam tubing with no flange on the end.  Customer is responsible for connecting the adapter to their custom cat back.
  • NO ADAPTER- This is the dp only, no adapters.  This is for those that have a MAXX Fab exhaust system, but with to change the dp they currently have.
